Improved Battle/Leveling/Stat System [WIP]
This will show users how to properly level their stats for role-playing and battling other users. As of now, the only thing dice will be used for is determining the success of landing your attacks, or for anything role-play based, like disarming things.
The Base Stats:HP: This is your Health Points. When you run out, your character has passed out, and must be helped by another user, or you have lost a fight, etc. It all depends on what is going on during the role-play.
When you level up, 10 points are added to your HP automatically.MP: This is your Mana Points. These are used to use skills or cast magic, depending on what type of character you have. There is no penalty for running out of MP. You just won't be able to use skills until you have more available.
When you level up, 3 points are added to your MP automatically.Strength: This determines how efficient you are with weapons and other role-play functions. Some weapons can't be equipped if you don't have the required strength to handle them. This also affects your Attack.
Strength is not added to your stats when you level up.Attack: This is the stat that determines how much damage you are able to do to an opponent, or anything else role-play related.
When you level up, 1 point is added to your Attack automatically.Vitality: This determines how well you can take a hit. This affects both your HP and your maximum Defense.
Vitality is not added to your stats when you level up. For every point of Vitality, add 1 HP to your stats.Defense: This is the stat that determines how much less damage you take from an attack.
When you level up, 1 point is added to your Defense automatically.Magic: This determines how efficient you are with casting spells, and how powerful they are. This also affects your Magic Attack and Magic Defense.
Magic is not added to your stats when you level up. For every point of Magic, add 1 point to your MP, Magic Attack and Magic Defense.Magic Attack: This determines how powerful your spells are. This also affects how powerful healing spells are, as well.
Magic Attack is not added to your stats when you level up.Magic Defense: This determines how resilient you are to magical attacks.
Magic Defense is not added to your stats when you level up.Dexterity: This affects how powerful your skills are.
Dexterity is not added to your stats when you level up. For every point of Dexterity, add 1 point to Strength when using physical skills, but not Magic.Determining Stats:When you start off at level 1, your base stats are this:
HP: 30
MP: 10
Strength: 0
Vitality: 0
Magic: 0
Dexterity: 0
Attack: 1
Defense: 1
M. Atk: 1
M. Def: 1
Leveling Up:Your EXP is determined by your number of forum posts. One post is equivalent to 1 EXP point. There is also a level-up meter in your mini-profile, so be sure to stay updated on your EXP.
When you level up, you are given 5 points to spend on your four base stats: Strength, Vitality, Magic, and Dexterity. It is completely up to you on how you wish to use them. Just remember that certain equip-able items need certain requirements in your stats, such as heavy weapons and/or powerful magical artifacts.
Remember that for every level-up, 10 HP and 3 MP are automatically added into your stats. 1 point to Attack and Defense are also added.
Attacking:It's quite simple. Since Agility is too difficult of a stat to implement into a forum, your attacks are determined by the dice. Here are how your attacks are determined on a 10-sided die:
1: Your attack was poorly executed, and you injure yourself in the process, dealing normal damage to yourself based on your own Defense subtracted from your Attack.
2-3: Your attack was executed poorly, and you miss your target.
4-9: You successfully attack your opponent, dealing normal damage to them based on their Defense subtracted from your Attack.
10: You successfully attack your opponent, dealing critical damage to them based on their Defense subtracted from your Attack.
Critical damage is simply twice the damage of a normal attack.
Spells and magic work the same way as attacking, except that you are determining damage based upon Magic Attack and Magic Defense.
Learning Spells/Skills:All Mage-class users start out with the most basic spell, Practe Bigi Nar. There are three classes of this beginner spell: 'Ardescat', which is fire, 'Vente', which is wind, 'Lux', which is light, 'Glacies', which is ice, and 'Noctis', which is night/darkness. Each has their own purposes, whether in combat or in role-playing. Use them wisely.
As you grow in level and Magic, more spells/skills will become available for purchase in the Shop. They will have their requirements posted in their description.
Note that some skills and/or spells cannot be obtained from the shop, but won from the staff in special events. Try to participate in any events that are announced to win prizes!
